Nutritional guidance
This berry with nutrients galore has been in the news lately due to Dr. Oz so everyone and their neighbors have been flooding the health food stores for it.
Why? It is considered a "super food", rich in vitamins - A,C,E, the B vitamins and folic acid, minerals, and the fatty acids- 9,7,6 and 3. Essentail fatty acids or EFA's are fatty acids that humans and other animals must ingest because the body requires them for good health but cannot synthesize them. The oil from the Sea Buckthorn has a balanced blend of all these fatty acids and the omega 7 acid inparticular plays an important role in replenishing the skin and helping the lining of the gastrointestinal tract.Certain compounds in sea buckthorn are believed to promote the healing of gastric ulcers by reducing inflammation. Inflammation is believed to be the cause of ailments such as high blood pressure, diabetes, menopausal difficulties, and many other problems. (Some researchers now believe that low-grade inflammation is associated with everything from heart disease and diabetes to Alzheimer’s and arthritis, and may even be the cause of most chronic diseases. This is not an entirely new theory. Inflammation was implicated in cancer many years ago. ) Sea Buckthorn's wide range of nutrients has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti microbial properties influencing the health of the body. Such a little berry with so much to give to us. Check it out in pill form (New Chapter - Supercritical Omega 7) and Sea Buckthorn creme by Weleda.
