Nutritional guidance
I just made an almost 3000 mile trip from Oregon to Texas and I made sure I packed some wholesome and good treats. (Thank you to my neighbors for those delicious power-packed cookies!). The basics could include: peanut butter or some other nut butter to spread on whole wheat bread or crackers, carrot sticks, celery sticks and hummus, granola, cheese, and don't forget your greens! I made kale salad that lasted all of 1 day. :-) But you can pack a green powder such as:Green Vibrance, Green foods Organic Green Fusion, Amazing Grass Chocolate Green Superfood or MegaFood DailyFoods Organic Greens Revitalising Greens. I also took honey for tea or coffee, nutritional yeast to sprinkle over popcorn and a whey protein powder to add to water or other liquids. Oatmeal and fruit are delicious when camping. I ended up taking apples and bananas as they hold up well under the stress of a car ride. For a quick snack and some energy - there are power bars (my advice is to watch the sugar content). Favorites are:Kind Blueberry Pecan + Fiber, Quest Coconut Cashew, Larabar Uber Roasted Nut Roll, and Zing Almond Blueberry. Last but not least - take plenty of water (mineral, tonic or regular - don't be caught having to drink gas station water, :-( Enjoy your time on the Road!
